Text card: MGSD Kshatriya, 7,000 yen before tax in Japan, US shop listings from 91.99 to 92.95 dollars, preorders full

Officially it is "not a limited item", yet the MGSD Kshatriya has gone to two lottery rounds in Japan. With the MGSD Kshatriya price at ¥7,000 before tax and US preorders full at two shops, your choice is waiting for a shop's next batch or settling for a 1/144 HGUC Kshatriya.

MGSD Kshatriya price? (quick answer)

¥7,000 before tax on Bandai's English item page and ¥7,700 with Japan's 10% tax on the Japanese one. In the US, three shops list it within $0.96 of each other, and none of them took a new order on Nov 3.

Bandai files it under MASTER GRADE SD and Mobile Suit Gundam UC. The accessory list is two lines long: a set of beam sabers and a marking sticker sheet. Our MGSD Kshatriya data page keeps those item-page facts with the day we read them.

Desk note: Our server copy of Bandai's Japanese item list (6,504 items, last checked against bandai-hobby.net on Nov 1) makes the Kshatriya the dearest of the seven regular MGSD kits at ¥7,700 with tax. The Freedom, Barbatos and Aerial list at ¥4,290, the Wing Gundam Zero EW and Destiny at ¥4,950, and the MGSD 00 Raiser due in March 2027 at ¥6,050. Read the $92 US tag against that: in Japan this one already costs about 1.8 times the MGSD Freedom.

Overview: two lottery rounds for a kit sold as "not a limited item"

The kit went on general sale in Japan on Saturday, Sept 26. GUNDAM Official's notice the day before gave that date and ¥7,700 with tax. Two days after release, a lottery sale opened: buyers apply, the shop draws winners, and the notices say it is not first come, first served.

Both rounds ran on the Gundam Base Online Shop, part of Premium Bandai (P-Bandai, Bandai's own web shop). Our Premium Bandai guide explains what that shop sells and how US buyers reach it.

2Oct 19, 11:00 AM to Nov 2, 3:59 PMNov 5scheduled for December

Each round cost ¥7,700 with tax and allowed one application per person. Both notices carry the same line: "This product is not a limited item." The second adds that the kit "will be available for purchase at retail stores carrying plastic models."

HLJ, a Japanese exporter, labels its listing "Discontinued" and "not expected to come back into stock". HLJ does not say whose decision that is, and no Bandai page we read calls the kit discontinued. The official notices are the line to plan on.

On Nov 3, GUNDAM Official's news list back to Aug 3 had no third round. Bandai's Japanese schedules for November and December had no Kshatriya entry either.

When the MGSD Kshatriya reaches US shops

Not yet, by the shops' own pages. Japan has had the kit since September; the US shops still show it as coming.

Gundam Planet$92.95preorder sold outNovember 2026; "Next available : ETA Dec 2026"

Gundam Planet's month is the North American distributor's estimate, and its page warns "It is possible this date will be delayed." It also holds a whole order until every item in it is in stock. USA Gundam Store says its distributor allocation "is spoken for", then adds: "We often get more before release." That line is the shop's own; none of the Bandai or GUNDAM Official pages we read mentions US stock.

USA Gundam Store's product data dates its listing to Feb 2 and Gundam Planet's to Feb 12, and HLJ's preorder cancellation deadline was also Feb 12. By the shops' own status lines, anyone who preordered at the two US shops is still waiting.

Gundam Planet's two months, November and then December, match the two Japanese lottery deliveries. Neither page connects them, so we read it as a coincidence until a shop says otherwise.

What we don't know yet: whether Bandai will run a third lottery or list the MGSD as a reissue, how many kits Gundam Planet's December estimate covers, whether Newtype's "Incoming" batch opens to new orders, and Bandai's height for the built kit. Our guide to where to buy Gunpla in the US covers how the main shops charge preorders and ship split orders.

Analysis: MGSD Kshatriya price against the HGUC Kshatriya kits

Our copy of Bandai's list has six Kshatriya kits. The BB Senshi 367 Kshatriya (¥1,100 with tax, 2011) and the SD Sangoku Soketsuden Diao Chan Kshatriya (¥880 with tax, 2021) are small SD kits. USA Gundam Store had the Diao Chan in stock at $15.99. The real alternatives are the two HGUC 1/144 kits; our guide to what HGUC means explains the label.

The odd row is the Repaired. Bandai's reissue price notice puts it on the general-release list for October to December 2026, moving it from ¥7,150 to ¥8,030 with tax. A 2014 HG kit now lists ¥330 above the MGSD. Bandai's stated reason covers the whole list: raw materials, packaging and logistics costs.

Bar chart of Bandai's Kshatriya kits by Japan price with tax, from 880 yen to 8,030 yen, with the Repaired's old price shown Diagram: PlamoDesk. Sources: our copy of Bandai's Japanese item list (read Nov 1) and Bandai's reissue price notice; Japan prices with tax.

Desk note: In our transcription of that October to December list (93 kits, last updated by Bandai on Oct 1), the median rise is 25%; the Repaired's is about 12%, or ¥880. It still lands above the MGSD. For a US builder the order flips: USA Gundam Store lists the Repaired preorder at $76.99, $15.00 under its MGSD price. Our price changes table holds every row.

Bandai's Japanese page for the 2009 HGUC gives 155 mm of height, close to 200 mm with the four binders (our translation). It also lists six funnels stored behind the binders and the hidden arms. The Repaired is the final-battle version, with new arms and legs, large propellant tanks and a clear blade on the Hyper Beam Javelin. The MGSD page says much less. It gives one sentence on MGSD as "MG's technology" in "the form of SD GUNDAM", two accessories, and no height or runner count.

The age marks matter for a gift. Bandai rates both HGUC kits 8 and over and the MGSD 15 and over.

Winner on Japan price: the 2009 HGUC Kshatriya, ¥2,420 under the MGSD with tax. Winner on getting an order in today: the HGUC Repaired, the only one of the three with an open US preorder at the shops we checked on Nov 3.

The Repaired's price change is one quarter of a running series. Our 2027 price increase breakdown covers the January to March list.

Our SD Gundam kits explained guide shows where MGSD sits next to BB Senshi, SD EX-Standard and Cross Silhouette, with Japan and US prices for each line.

What builders say

The kit has been out in Japan since September, so r/Gunpla already has built ones. We read these through the Arctic Shift archive. A thread by a builder showing a finished MGSD, at 660 points, opens with a wish:

"I want MG version for this. I have Osiris Aerial Dominator but I'm still prefer Bandai made MG Kshatriya because I don't like the gimmick that for me feels over." u/fajarmf94 on r/Gunpla, September 2026

The Osiris "Aerial Dominator" is a third-party 1/100 Kshatriya, not a Bandai kit. Commenters in that thread argue over whether to call it a bootleg. Our bootleg guide lists the checks to run on a listing, its box and its runners before you pay.

A commenter there named the HG's weak spot:

"It kinda annoys me that the hg wings don't have the openning gimmick. Or nearly as much detail. This kit needs an rg or mg" u/tanman729 on r/Gunpla, September 2026

Under a post comparing the weight of the MGSD and the HG Kshatriya, the top-voted reply reads:

"Chonk. 356g is heavier than MG ZZ ver Ka / MG Virtue." u/xithebun on r/Gunpla, September 2026 (67 points)

The 356 g figure comes from that thread; Bandai publishes no weight.

Our take

Wait for a US shop's next batch at about $92; pick the HGUC Repaired preorder only if 1/144 suits you. GUNDAM Official's notices say the MGSD is not a limited item and that stores carry it, and Gundam Planet already shows a December ETA after its November batch. The Repaired costs ¥330 more than the MGSD in Japan but $15 less at USA Gundam Store. It was also the only Kshatriya with an open US preorder at the shops we checked on Nov 3.

A third lottery, a reissue notice or a shop reopening orders would change this. We recheck the four shops weekly until US stock lands.

How we checked this

On Nov 3 (Vietnam time) we read Bandai's English and Japanese item pages for the MGSD and both HGUC Kshatriya kits; the English HGUC pages return Bandai's 404 page. We also read Bandai's Japanese schedules for November and December, its reissue price notice, and the title of every GUNDAM Official news item back to Aug 3. US prices and status come from each shop's product page and product data. HLJ was read from Vietnam, so its VND price is not used. The ¥7,150 to ¥8,030 change comes from our transcription of Bandai's price table images. Reddit comments were read through the Arctic Shift archive, not reddit.com. We have not built any of these kits.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the MGSD Kshatriya a Premium Bandai exclusive? No. Both GUNDAM Official lottery notices say "This product is not a limited item" and that stores carrying plastic models sell it. The two lottery rounds ran on the Gundam Base Online Shop, which is part of Premium Bandai, at ¥7,700 with tax and one application per person.

Can I still enter the MGSD Kshatriya lottery? Not the second round. Applications closed on Nov 2 at 3:59 PM Japan time, and GUNDAM Official gives Nov 5 for the results and December for delivery. On Nov 3, its news list showed no third round, and Bandai's Japanese schedules for November and December had no Kshatriya entry.

Does the MGSD Kshatriya come with a stand? No. Bandai's English and Japanese item pages list two accessories: one set of beam sabers and one marking sticker sheet. A display stand is a separate purchase; our Action Base guide lists which stands US shops sell for each scale and what they cost.

Is there an MG Kshatriya? Not from Bandai. Our server copy of Bandai's Japanese item list (6,504 items, last checked against bandai-hobby.net on Nov 1) has six Kshatriya kits: one MGSD, three HGUC 1/144 (one a Premium Bandai edition), one BB Senshi and one SD Sangoku Soketsuden. None is 1/100. The 1/100 Kshatriya r/Gunpla builders mention is a third-party kit.

How big is the MGSD Kshatriya box? 39.5 x 31.5 x 14.5 cm and 1,323 g, per the item details on HLJ's page on Nov 3. That is the size a Japanese exporter bills shipping on. Bandai's own item pages give no box size and no height for the built kit.
