MASTER GRADE SD: every kit, month and Japan price

What MGSD is

MASTER GRADE SD, which Bandai's English site lists as its own brand, applies Master Grade construction to super-deformed proportions. Bandai's page for the MGSD Gundam Aerial (August 2025) describes an internal frame that combines metallic silver parts with multiple moulding colours, a camera eye built from clear and silver parts, and a built-in shell unit that can be swapped to show the suit at Permet Score Six.

The line is young and small. Bandai's Japanese list dates the first kit, the MGSD Freedom Gundam, to January 2023, and Bandai called the MGSD Destiny Gundam of February 2026 the fifth installment of its SD high-end brand, so the table below holds only a handful of suits plus any limited editions Bandai files under the same filter.

Each release adds its own gimmick. Bandai says the MGSD Wing Gundam Zero EW of November 2024 has the first variable mechanism in the MGSD series, with two bird-form modes, and the Destiny's sword and long-range beam cannon extend as MGSD original gimmicks.

Price and age rating

Bandai's English item pages list the MGSD Gundam Aerial at 3,900 yen and the MGSD Destiny Gundam and Wing Gundam Zero EW at 4,500 yen, all before tax. That is more than double the 1,800 yen SDCS Mighty Strike Freedom and several times the 600 yen SDEX Rising Freedom, and close to the price of a mid-range MG. All three MGSD kits are rated for ages 15 and over, where the SDCS and SDEX kits we checked say 8 and over.

Who should buy an MGSD

Choose MGSD if you like SD proportions but want the inner frame, part count and finish of a Master Grade, and you have built a few HG or MG kits already. With so few releases, check the list below for your suit first. For a quick, cheap SD build, SDEX or SDCS is the better fit; for a full-size suit at a similar price, look at MG.
