MG Ver.Ka [MASTER GRADE Ver.Katoki]: every kit, month and Japan price

What Ver.Ka means

Ver.Ka is short for Version Katoki. Bandai's Japanese brand filter names the line MG Ver.Ka, read as マスターグレード バージョンカトキ, and its English site writes MG Ver.Ka [MASTER GRADE Ver.Katoki]. Katoki is Hajime Katoki, the mechanical designer.

Bandai's Japanese page for the first kit, the MG 1/100 RX-78-2 Gundam Ver.Ka, presents it as an MG model of the RX-78 that Katoki drew anew (our translation). Bandai's list dates that kit to December 2002, and it is still listed at ¥3,960 with tax. The line is old enough to celebrate itself: the MG Zeta Gundam Ver.Ka page of April 2023 opens with "MASTER GRADE Ver.Ka 20th Anniversary!"

What changes from a regular MG

A Ver.Ka is still a 1/100 Master Grade kit. What changes is the design, and Bandai's item pages credit Katoki with the details and the markings. The MG Nu Gundam Ver.Ka page (December 2012) says his "details and markings are all carefully selected", the MG Sazabi Ver.Ka (December 2013) "comes with original markings designed by Hajime Katoki", and the MG Wing Gundam Zero EW Ver.Ka of November 2020 was made "under the complete supervision of Hajime Katoki".

So the choice between a Ver.Ka and a regular MG of the same suit is mostly about which design you prefer. Compare the two kits side by side on Bandai's item pages before you buy.

Price, age rating and reissues

Bandai's English pages list the MG Wing Gundam Zero EW Ver.Ka at 5,500 yen, the MG Zeta Gundam Ver.Ka at 6,500 yen, the MG Nu Gundam Ver.Ka at 7,400 yen and the MG Sazabi Ver.Ka at 9,400 yen, all before tax and all rated for ages 15 and over. The newest general release, the MG Full Armor ZZ Gundam Ver.Ka of February 2026, is 11,400 yen. The regular MG RX-78-2 Gundam Ver.3.0 is 4,900 yen, for comparison.

Reissues cost more now. Bandai's revision list for January to March 2027 moves the MG Unicorn Gundam Ver.Ka from ¥5,500 to ¥6,270 and the MG Sinanju Ver.Ka from ¥7,700 to ¥8,580, both with tax. GUNDAM Official lists the MG V2 Assault Buster Gundam Ver.Ka as a Premium Bandai reissue shipping in January 2027. Our reissue tracker keeps those rows with their sources.

Who should buy one

Buy a Ver.Ka when you already enjoy MG kits and the suit you want has a Katoki version. About half of the kits in the table below are Premium Bandai, Gundam Base or event editions, so read the Sold via column before you plan around one. If your suit has no Ver.Ka, the MG hub lists the other versions, and MGEX is the high-end line above both. It is not a first kit.
