Card summarising Bandai's January to March 2027 reissue price list: 111 items, median rise of 25 percent, most common rise 330 yen

Bandai's Gunpla price increase 2027 list doubles the 1/2400 White Base, a kit from April 1981: ¥330 becomes ¥660 with tax. Flat yen steps hit cheap kits hardest. The January to March 2027 table covers 111 reissued items, and the median rise is 25%. If you want an older kit, the real decision is timing: buy one in stock now, or wait for a restock that carries the new Japan price. New kits are not on the list; our Gunpla release schedule 2026 guide explains how release months work.

TL;DR: 111 reissued items get a higher Japan price from January to March 2027. Median rise: 25%. Most rises are a flat 330 or 440 yen, so cheap kits jump most: 9 of the 14 small 1980s kits double, HG kits rise about 25%, MG kits 10% to 18%. New kits are not on the list. US shops set their own prices, and none we read ties them to this notice. Checked Oct 11 and 12, 2026.

Verdict: Buy an older kit now if a US shop has it in stock at a price you accept. The Japan price behind its next restock is higher: all 111 rows go up, by 5% to 100%.

Key Takeaways

  • 111 items on the general-release table for January to March 2027, first posted in August 2026, updated Oct 7.
  • Median rise: 25%, using Japan prices with 10% tax. Range: 5% to 100%.
  • Flat yen steps: 45 items rise by 330 yen and 33 by 440 yen.
  • By line: HG and HGUC median 25%, MG 13%, SD 37.5%, Gundam Decal sheets 75%, 1980s small-scale kits 100%.
  • Reissues only. The notice covers restocks of existing kits, not new releases.

Overview: what Bandai's notice says

The price revision notice sits on Bandai's Japanese Hobby Site. Its main text dates from November 2024. In it, BANDAI SPIRITS says it will revise the prices of some plastic model kits step by step from April 2025, for items reissued from that month on. The reason it gives: rising raw material and packaging costs plus higher logistics costs, which made the current prices hard to keep for some products.

The notice changes two things: the manufacturer's suggested retail price and the price at Bandai's own stores and online shops. It also says the kits' contents do not change.

Three groups get their own lists:

  1. General releases, announced quarterly on the Hobby Site.
  2. Premium Bandai Hobby Online Shop items, announced when each item's preorder opens.
  3. Gundam Base, event and other limited items, as a rule announced quarterly.

Bandai adds two caveats: reissue timing can change, and which items a store carries differs by store. The January to March 2027 section went up on August 20, 2026. Its general-release table was last updated on Oct 7, as of our Oct 12 read.

The tables themselves are images. We copied the 111 general-release rows by hand into our Gunpla price changes tracker, where each row links to the kit when the name and current price match. The prices in the table include Japan's 10% consumption tax, so they will not match the before-tax prices on Bandai's English pages.

The Gunpla price increase 2027 in numbers

Bar chart of the median price rise by line in Bandai's January to March 2027 list: old small-scale kits 100 percent, Gundam Decal sheets 75 percent, SD kits 37.5 percent, HG and HGUC 25 percent, MG 13.2 percent Diagram: PlamoDesk. Data: Bandai Hobby Site notice 01_6676, general-release table for January to March 2027, checked October 11, 2026.

Across all 111 rows, the median item rises 25% and the average 33.8%, pulled up by cheap items that double.

Desk note: One of each of the 111 items cost ¥264,220 before the revision and ¥314,380 after. That is ¥50,160 more for the same plastic: Bandai's notice says the contents do not change.

The list leans heavily on High Grade. 48 of the 111 rows are HG or HGUC kits, most of them HGUC. Their median rise is 25%: a 1,320 yen HG goes to 1,650 yen, a 1,650 yen HGUC to 2,090 yen.

Master Grade rises less in percentage terms. The 12 MG kits on the list rise between 10.4% and 17.9%, with a median of 13.2%. The four RE/100 kits rise 11% to 14%.

The rest of the list is a mix:

  • SD kits (9 rows): SD Sangoku Soketsuden and SDW Heroes kits, median rise 37.5%. Two 660 yen kits go to 990 yen.
  • Gundam Decal sheets (7 rows): each from 440 to 770 yen, a 75% rise.
  • Small-scale kits first sold from 1980 to 1985 (14 rows): the 1/2400 White Base, 1/1200 Musai and their siblings. Bandai's item list dates them to 1980 to 1985. Nine go from 330 to 660 yen, five from 440 to 770 yen.
  • 1/35 U.C. Hard Graph and EX Model (7 rows): 9% to 20%.
  • 30MM, Figure-rise Standard and Pokemon items (8 rows): 5% to 50%. The 30MM eEXM-17 Alto (air battle type) goes from 1,980 to 2,090 yen, and a 30 Minutes Missions water decal sheet from 440 to 660 yen.

Why cheap kits jump the most

Bar chart of how much each of the 111 prices rises in yen: 45 items by 330 yen, 33 by 440 yen, 13 by 550 yen, 5 by 660 yen, the rest by other amounts Diagram: PlamoDesk. Data: Bandai Hobby Site notice 01_6676, general-release table for January to March 2027, checked October 11, 2026.

Most rises are a flat amount of yen, not a percentage. 45 of the 111 items go up by exactly 330 yen and 33 by 440 yen. Only 7 items rise by more than 660 yen.

That is why the percentages spread so far. 330 yen on a 330 yen kit is a 100% rise. The same 330 yen on a 1,320 yen HG is 25%, and 550 yen on a 3,850 yen MG GM Ver.2.0 is 14.3%. The single biggest rise in yen is the MGEX Unicorn Gundam Ver.Ka, from 25,300 to 27,940 yen, which is only 10.4%.

Paired bars for seven kits before and after the January to March 2027 revision, from the HGUC RX-78-2 Gundam at 1,100 to 1,430 yen to the RE/100 Nightingale at 8,800 to 9,900 yen Diagram: PlamoDesk. Data: Bandai Hobby Site notice 01_6676, checked October 11, 2026.

Seven examples from the table, Japan prices with tax:

KitBeforeAfterRise
HGUC 1/144 RX-78-2 Gundam (the 2001 kit)¥1,100¥1,43030%
HG 1/144 Gundam Kimaris¥1,320¥1,65025%
HGUC 1/144 Full Armor Gundam 7th¥1,650¥2,31040%
MG 1/100 GM Ver.2.0¥3,850¥4,40014.3%
MG 1/100 Unicorn Gundam Ver.Ka¥5,500¥6,27014%
RE/100 1/100 Nightingale¥8,800¥9,90012.5%
1/2400 White Base¥330¥660100%

Watch the names. Bandai sells two HGUC RX-78-2 kits: the 2001 kit at 1,100 yen and the 2015 Revive at 1,320 yen. The 2027 row is the 1,100 yen kit, matched by price in Bandai's item list. The Revive already went from 1,100 to 1,320 yen in the earlier round, as Dengeki Online's November 2024 report showed.

How 2027 fits the earlier rounds

This is not a one-off. Dengeki Online reported in November 2024 that BANDAI SPIRITS had announced price revisions for Gunpla and other plastic kits, and estimated them at roughly 10% to 20%. The Gundam Base announced in February 2025 that its revised prices applied from April 2025 store sales.

The rounds kept coming. Impress HOBBY Watch reported in February 2026 on increases for reissues due in July to September 2026. In May 2026, Gundam Kits Collection wrote that HG SEED kits such as the Astray Red Frame, Blitz and Aegis were going from 1,320 to 1,650 yen, "marking a 25% increase across the board". The 2027 HG rows use the same small steps: 33 of the 48 rise by 440 yen and 11 by 330 yen.

The Japanese fan site Harmonizers, which compiles each quarter's notice, puts the October to December 2026 general-release rises at 110 to 1,650 yen. The January to March 2027 table runs from 110 to 2,640 yen, and only the MGEX goes above 1,650 yen.

What it means for US buyers

The notice is about Japan: Bandai's suggested retail price and its own Japanese stores. US hobby shops set their own prices, and none of the shop pages we read ties a price to this notice.

Shop prices on Oct 12, unchanged on Oct 13, for kits on, or similar to, the list:

  • RE/100 Nightingale: $96.95, in stock, at Gundam Planet.
  • HGUC Zaku II (#40): $13.99 (regular $14.99) as a preorder with an estimated Q4 2026 arrival at USA Gundam Store; on Oct 13 the preorder was listed as unavailable. This kit is not on the 2027 list.
  • HGUC RX-78-2 Revive (#191): $13.00, sold out, at Gunpla Style.

A reissue is often the only way to get an older kit new, which is why the restock matters more than the price for some buyers. A Gundam Planet customer, Gason H., wrote of the RE/100 Nightingale in January 2021: "Gundam Planet was the only site that had this thing in stock, so thats p epic." Another, Victor C., said in November 2020: "This kit is freaking huge, seriously cannot be understated."

Analysis: buy now or wait?

The table tells you three things.

First, the cheapest items rise the most. Older HG kits rise about 25%, SD kits a median 37.5%, decal sheets 75% and the 1980s small-scale kits 75% to 100%. Second, MG, RE/100 and MGEX kits rise less in percentage terms, 10% to 18%, but more in yen. Third, the list is about reissues. New kits on the release calendar get their own prices when Bandai announces them.

For a US buyer, the move is simple. If a kit on the list is in stock at a price you accept, the notice gives no reason to wait. If it is out of stock, the next batch may carry a higher Japan price. What US shops charge is up to them.

Our take

Buy the older kit you want when a US shop has it in stock at a price you accept. Every one of the 111 rows rises in Japan, by 5% to 100%. The 330 and 440 yen steps now reach 111 more reissues, so a ¥1,320 HG becomes ¥1,650. MG buyers feel it less: 10% to 18%. Ignore this if you only buy new releases; they are not on the list. How we checked this

On October 11, 2026 we transcribed the January to March 2027 general-release table from Bandai's price revision notice (the table is an image), and every row was then checked against the images. On Oct 12 we re-read the notice text and section dates. We matched rows to kits in Bandai's Japanese item list by name and current price, and computed the medians, counts and sums ourselves. Earlier rounds come from Dengeki Online, the Gundam Base news page, Impress HOBBY Watch, Gundam Kits Collection and Harmonizers. US prices come from Gundam Planet, USA Gundam Store and Gunpla Style product pages read on Oct 12; the quotes come from Gundam Planet's review section on the RE/100 Nightingale page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Bandai raising Gunpla prices in 2027? Yes, for some reissues. Bandai's Japanese price revision notice lists 111 general-release items with new prices for January to March 2027, first posted in August 2026 and updated on Oct 7. New kits are not on that list; it covers reissues of existing kits sold in Japan.

How much are Gunpla prices going up in early 2027? In Bandai's January to March 2027 general-release table, the median rise is 25%, using Japan prices with tax. Most rises are a flat 330 or 440 yen, so cheap kits rise the most in percentage terms: old 1980s kits double, while MG kits rise about 10% to 18%.

Why is Bandai raising Gunpla prices? Bandai Spirits' notice gives rising raw material and packaging costs plus higher logistics costs as the reason. The notice dates from November 2024 and says price revisions for some reissued plastic kits roll out step by step from April 2025, with lists posted each quarter, so the 2027 list is one step in an ongoing program.

Will US Gunpla prices go up too? Bandai's notice covers Japanese list prices and Bandai's own stores in Japan. We found no US shop statement tying its prices to the notice. US prices move for other reasons too, such as import costs. Check the shop price on the day: the RE/100 Nightingale was $96.95 at Gundam Planet on Oct 12.

Which Gunpla kits get the biggest price increase in 2027? In percentage terms, nine small-scale kits first sold between 1980 and 1985, such as the 1/2400 White Base, double from 330 to 660 yen. In yen, the MGEX Unicorn Gundam Ver.Ka rises the most, from 25,300 to 27,940 yen with tax. Gundam Decal sheets rise 75%.
