Premium Bandai Exclusive Gunpla: What It Is, What It Costs
Premium Bandai exclusive Gunpla explained from Bandai's own lists. How many come out a year, which grades in 2026, and US prices vs Japan prices.

Exclusive does not mean rare in number: from 2022 to 2025, Premium Bandai exclusive Gunpla and related items arrived at 55 to 62 a year on Bandai's Japanese list. That is about five a month. So the real decision for a US builder is price: Bandai's own dollar price, or a reseller's. Bandai sells these kits through its own online store, and on Bandai's English homepage the US price came close to the Japanese tax-included price divided by 83. For the wider picture of US shops and import costs, see our where to buy Gunpla in the US guide.
TL;DR: Bandai's Japanese list has 952 items with the Premium Bandai label, peaking at 87 in 2017. 52 are dated 2026 so far, mostly HG and RG kits. For seven exclusives on Bandai's English homepage, the US price came to about 1 dollar per 75 to 84 yen of the Japanese tax-included price, most near 83 yen. A US reseller had a P-Bandai collection: the three listings we checked on Oct 12 were out of stock, and on Oct 15 two HGAC kits it labels P-Bandai were in stock at $21.99. Checked Oct 11, 12 and 15, 2026.
Verdict: Buy an exclusive only if you want that kit. Expect to pay about the Japanese tax-included price divided by 83. Skip reseller prices far above that.
Key Takeaways

Overview: what Premium Bandai is
Graphic: PlamoDesk. Data: Bandai Hobby Site (Japan) item list and English homepage, checked October 11 and 12, 2026.
Premium Bandai is Bandai's own online store. When Bandai promoted a wave of Gunpla for its US store in April 2020, its post on Premium Bandai USA presented it as Bandai's official store, focused on anime, game and tokusatsu goods, and said its Gunpla range included rare and limited kits previously sold only in Japan. The same post said the new entries brought the number of items available to US customers past 30 in 18 days.
Bandai's English Hobby Site still points US visitors there. Its homepage has an ONLINE SHOP link to the Hobby Online Shop on Premium Bandai USA and a "PREMIUM BANDAI NEW ARRIVAL" strip with dollar prices. We read that strip on Bandai's site; we did not open the Premium Bandai store itself, so this guide does not cover its shipping or payment terms.
On Bandai's Japanese item list, these kits carry a Premium Bandai (Hobby Online Shop) sales label. Other items carry other labels, such as Gundam Base or event. The Premium Bandai label is what we counted. Our exclusives tracker lists the same kits by year.
How many Premium Bandai exclusives come out
Diagram: PlamoDesk. Data: Bandai Hobby Site (Japan) item list, Premium Bandai label, by listed month, checked October 11, 2026.
The label first appears on a handful of items dated 2009 to 2011, then jumps to 41 in 2012. The busiest years were 2017 (87 items) and 2018 (86). Since 2022 the count has settled at 55 to 62 a year.
2026 stands at 52 so far. Bandai keeps adding items as preorders open: its price revision notice says Premium Bandai items are announced at the start of each item's preorder, not on a fixed quarterly list. Eight items are already dated 2027.
These counts include everything with the label: Gundam kits, other robot series, option parts and decals. They are counts of listings, not production numbers.
What the 2026 exclusives are

HG dominates. 22 of the 52 items dated 2026 are HG kits, and 9 of those come from other robot series, not Gundam: the list includes Code Geass, Dragonar and Super Robot Wars kits. RG has 8 items and MG 5.
The high end is thin but present: one PG, one MGEX, one MGSD and one RE/100 item. At the other end is one Entry Grade set, an EG Nu Gundam with fin funnels in a recirculation color. As of Oct 11, the prices with tax for the 2026 items run from 1,540 to 18,700 yen, with a median of 4,345 yen.

Premium Bandai USA prices vs Japan
Diagram: PlamoDesk. Sources: Bandai Hobby Site English homepage (US prices) and Japanese item list (prices with 10% tax), checked October 11 and 12, 2026.
Bandai's English homepage showed 15 items in its Premium Bandai new-arrival strip on October 12, 2026. Seven of them match a Premium Bandai item on the Japanese list by name, so we can compare prices directly:
| Kit | Japan price (with tax) | US price on Bandai's homepage | Yen per $1 |
|---|---|---|---|
| RG 1/144 Force Impulse Gundam Deactive Mode | ¥3,300 | $40 | 82.5 |
| RG 1/144 Blast Impulse Gundam SpecII | ¥4,400 | $53 | 83.0 |
| HG 1/144 Beguir-Beu Torche | ¥2,420 | $29 | 83.4 |
| MG 1/100 G-Parts [Hrududu] | ¥2,420 | $29 | 83.4 |
| Heavy Metal L-Gaim Set 2 | ¥3,850 | $46 | 83.7 |
| MG 1/100 Gundam Stormbringer P.F. | ¥7,590 | $96 | 79.1 |
| MG 1/100 MS-09 Dom (Gravity Battle Line image color) | ¥4,400 | $59 | 74.6 |
Desk note: Five of the seven matched kits land between 82.5 and 83.7 yen per dollar. For those five, the Japanese tax-included price divided by 83 lands within a dollar of Bandai's US price. The two outliers, the Stormbringer and the Dom, came out a few dollars more expensive.
The homepage also showed prices for bigger exclusives, such as $236 for the PG 1/60 Gundam Astray Blue Frame and $141 for the RG 1/144 Sinanju [Special Coating]. These are store prices only: shipping and US sales tax are not shown on that strip, and we did not read Premium Bandai's own checkout terms.
Buying exclusives in the US
There are three routes, and each has a catch.
- Premium Bandai USA directly. Bandai's English site links to it, and its dollar prices track the Japanese price closely, as the table shows. Read its terms on the site before ordering; we have not verified them.
- US resellers. Some shops carry exclusives. USA Gundam Store had a P-Bandai collection on Oct 12, with the MG 1/100 Shenlong Gundam EW (Liaoya Unit) at $75.99 and the MG 1/100 OO Qan[T] Trans-Am Mode [Special Coating] at $96.99 on sale. Both were out of stock with no restock date, and still were on Oct 15. That day the shop did have two HGAC kits it labels P-Bandai in stock, the Gundam Heavyarms Custom and Gundam Sandrock Custom, at $21.99 each (regular $22.99).
- Proxy services from Japan. Gunpla 101's guide to buying overseas notes: "Multiple sites offer proxy-shopping services that ship internationally for a price." The same guide reminds readers that these services work "for a cut of the profit". US import rules for orders from Japan are covered in our where-to-buy guide linked above.
What US buyers say about exclusives mostly comes down to price and availability. From Gundam Planet reviews:
- Dustin H. (August 2026), on a logo display stand: "I thought this one was P Bandai and was happy to find it here instead of paying too much elsewhere."
- Mark V. (September 2025), on the HGAC Gundam Deathscythe Hell: "I was so happy to see the Deathscythe Hell be renewed as a Regular Bandai release". The same reviewer adds: "The box is literally the P-Bandai but colored."

Analysis: is a Premium Bandai exclusive worth it?
Three facts from the lists shape the answer.
First, exclusives are not rare in number. Bandai's list adds 55 to 62 of them a year, about five a month on average. Missing one is not missing your only chance at an exclusive.
Second, the official US price sits close to the Japanese price. For most matches, Premium Bandai USA charged the Japanese tax-included price converted at about 83 yen per dollar. A reseller price far above that is a markup, not Bandai's price.
Third, exclusives do reach regular release sometimes, as one reviewer found with the Deathscythe Hell. There is no published rule for when, so it is not a reason to wait if you want a kit now.
Our take
Buy an exclusive only when you want that kit, and pay close to Bandai's own dollar price. For five of the seven kits we matched, that price was the Japanese tax-included price divided by about 83. A reseller asking much more is charging for availability. Exclusives are not rare in number either: 55 to 62 a year from 2022 to 2025. For everything else, regular kits from US shops are easier to get. Budgeting for 2027? How we checked this
On October 11, 2026 we counted every item with the Premium Bandai (Hobby Online Shop) label on Bandai's Japanese item list, by listed month and by line. On Oct 12 we read the Premium Bandai new-arrival strip on Bandai's English Hobby Site homepage and matched its kits to the Japanese list by name; the dates there use day/month/year. We read Bandai's April 2020 US press post, the price revision notice on the Japanese Hobby Site, USA Gundam Store's P-Bandai listings, Gunpla 101's guide to buying overseas and Gundam Planet's review sections. On Oct 15 we re-read USA Gundam Store's P-Bandai listings and product pages. We did not send any request to the Premium Bandai store, so its own terms are not covered here.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Premium Bandai exclusive Gunpla? A kit sold through Premium Bandai, Bandai's own online store, instead of regular hobby shops. Bandai's Japanese item list marks these with a Premium Bandai (Hobby Online Shop) label. When Bandai promoted its US store in 2020, it said the Gunpla range included rare and limited kits previously sold only in Japan.
How many Premium Bandai Gunpla come out each year? Bandai's Japanese item list showed 952 items with the Premium Bandai label on Oct 11, counting all lines. The peak was 87 items dated 2017 and 86 in 2018. Since 2022 the count has run between 55 and 62 a year, with 52 dated 2026 so far.
Is Premium Bandai USA more expensive than Japan? Close to a straight conversion. Seven exclusives on Bandai's English homepage on Oct 12 were priced at about 75 to 84 yen of the Japanese tax-included price per US dollar, most near 83. The homepage shows store prices only, and we did not read Premium Bandai's own checkout terms.
Can you buy P-Bandai Gunpla from US shops? Sometimes, through resellers. On Oct 12 USA Gundam Store had a P-Bandai collection, with the MG Shenlong Gundam EW (Liaoya Unit) at $75.99, out of stock with no restock date. On Oct 15 the Shenlong was still out of stock, but two HGAC kits the shop labels P-Bandai, the Heavyarms Custom and Sandrock Custom, were in stock at $21.99. Confirm stock before you count on one.
Do Premium Bandai kits ever become regular releases? It happens. A Gundam Planet customer wrote in September 2025 that the HGAC Deathscythe Hell had been renewed as a regular Bandai release, and that its box looked like the P-Bandai one in a different color. We could not find a rule for when this happens, so treat it as a possibility, not a plan.
