A top coat is a clear spray or paint over the finished kit that sets the shine: gloss, semi-gloss or matte (flat). GSI Creos's range lists Mr. Super Clear Gloss (B513), an Aqueous Premium Top Coat Semi-Gloss (B602) and Mr. Super Smooth Clear Matt (B530), and Tamiya's TS-80 Flat Clear gives a matte coat.
For new builders
Spray in thin coats; GSI Creos's FAQ says moisture trapped in the paint mist causes fogging.
